Straight back from Tiree and back out on the water for a birthday sail!
Was well up for this - a chance to continue where I left off on Thursday at
Crossapol, especially with my back loops. Also yesterday I had bought
Martin's Gaastras, the 2004 5.3 and 4.7, and the 2005 4.0, so was keen to
try them out.
But - woke up on Monday morning with a stinking cold :( This and having to
do my washing meant I didn't get to Shoreham until after the low-mid tide
sweet spot had passed, and now the shorebreak was getting seriously
dumpy.
Seemed a bit lighter than expected so rigged the 5.3. This sets on a 400 so
I stuck mine up it...to the top....and then realised the head cap didn't
have a hole in it for the Gaastra plug ARRGGHHH!!!! So had to rig it on my
430.
One run out and back on the Bee - overpowered - came straight in to change
to the Quatro - straight away though after having clambered up the shingle
was feeling shite and knackered as a result of my cold - bollox.
Back out on the Quatro - one run out and back - dropped my gybe on the
inside and got proper munched and spat out onto the beach by the
shorebreak. Fortunately no damage to kit or self. Now was feeling absolute
shit like death warmed up so game over. Back home and straight to bed.
